The company has implemented a comprehensive and multifaceted action plan that aims to replenish and conserve this vital resource both within & outside its operations.
We now sequester more freshwater than we consume. While our water consumption has dropped by 26% over the last 3 years, we have revived hitherto dried upriver basins, adding nearly 5.8 lakh kl of water, benefiting 1300 farmers and providing water for irrigation on 868 acres of land.
Since 2017, Surya Nepal has been addressing the area of greenhouse gas emissions by consistently reducing energy consumption by approximately 30%.
Moreover, Surya Nepal's wetland revival project and afforestation programs have significantly increased the amount of green coverage in certain regions of the country. These plantations and wetlands not only provide numerous other environmental advantages but also absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide, which lessens the harmful effects of rising greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere. With all of these initiatives, Surya Nepal aims to achieve carbon positivity by 2027.
Surya Nepal’s waste management action plan is built on two key pillars: reducing waste generation through ongoing monitoring and goal setting to enhance resource efficiency, and increasing recycling efforts to minimize landfill waste. Through these initiatives, Surya Nepal aims to achieve positive solid waste recycling by 2028.
